Downtown Sumter:
The downtown central business district is undergoing a revitalization program. Incentives available for new development or historic building renovation include the following programs: Low Interest Loans Facade Grants HUD 108 Loans & EDI Grants Public/Private Partnerships For additional information, go to the Downtown Sumter website at - www.downtownsumter.org

Brownfield & Grayfield Redevelopment:
The City of Sumter supports "smart-growth" and encourages backfill redevelopment. Consideration for incentives will be given for redevelopment projects that exceed $3,000,000, not including acquisition costs.

Other Commercial Development Incentives:
Economic incentives will be considered on commercial development projects that meet the following criteria:

Minimum investment: $35 million (not including land acquisition costs)

Minimum FTE job creation within 12 months of completion of construction: 250 Jobs

Please be aware that all projects are subject to case-by-case review by both City & County Council. This document does not imply that an incentive will be offered, it is intended only as guidelines for incentive consideration.
